# Kombrewcha

> Kombrewcha is an iPhone and Android app for learning to make kombucha at home and keeping a record of every brew. One purchase, no subscription.

Kombrewcha is an app for learning to make kombucha at home and tracking every brew. It runs on iPhone and Android and is bought once on the app store, with no subscription, no in-app purchases and no ads.

Every brew, every recipe and every tasting note in one place, so that delicious batch can be repeated consistently.

## What the app looks like

- **Every jar at a glance.** Ready, fermenting and finished, each with the days remaining.
- **Brew the good one again.** The amounts, the duration and the notes are still there when we want to repeat it.
- **Durations that are researched.** Pre-filled from published sources, and adjustable before we start.
- **Learn while it ferments.** Short articles that read offline, with safety one tap away.

## What it does

### Days remaining, not days elapsed

A ten day brew is a long time to hold in our heads. The ring counts down, and a reminder arrives on the ready date.

### Numbers from published sources

Suggested durations come from reviewed brewing guides and university food safety references, not from guesswork.

### What actually went in

Type whatever was used, in the units it was measured in. That record is the part worth repeating.

### A good batch becomes a recipe

Rate it, keep it, and start the next one with the amounts already filled in.

## Why the numbers can be trusted

Suggested durations come from published sources rather than guesswork, and the reviews are public at https://kombrewcha.app/reading: university food safety references, a state agriculture department, and working brewers.

- A SCOBY brew runs seven to fourteen days at 75 to 80°F.
- A flavor run is two to five days, kept short on purpose, because a sealed bottle left too long can burst.
- Kombrewcha cannot inspect a jar and does not judge whether a batch is safe to drink. The safety article states what to check; the judgment stays with the brewer.

## One purchase, everything included

- Unlimited SCOBY and flavor batches, with reminders
- The recipe book, ours and yours together
- The community feed, publishing optional
- Every Learn article, offline
- Every future update to the app

- **No accounts.** No email, no password, no profile. Just a brewer name, chosen once.
- **No analytics.** We collect no usage data. Nobody is counting taps on the other end.
- **No tracking.** No third-party SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no ads anywhere in the app.
- **Works offline.** Brews, recipes and every article work with no connection at all.

No subscription, no in-app purchases, no free tier. The current price is on the store listing.

## Questions

### Do we need an account?

No. There is no email address, no password and nothing to log in to. Publishing a recipe to the community feed uses a brewer name picked in the app, and nothing else.

### What is a SCOBY, and does the app help us get one?

A SCOBY is the culture that ferments sweet tea into kombucha. It sits on the surface of the jar and grows with each batch. The article on sourcing a SCOBY covers buying one, being given one, and what a healthy culture looks like.

### Does it work offline?

Yes. Brews, recipes, notes and every article work with no connection. The community feed is the only part that needs one.

### Can we track several brews at once?

Yes, as many SCOBY brews and flavor runs as we have jars and bottles for. Each one keeps its own duration, countdown and reminder.

### Where is our brewing data stored?

On the device. There is no server holding our batches, and we run no analytics and no tracking. Sharing is the only part that reaches a server: a recipe when we publish one, and the brewer name it is published under.

### Can the app tell us whether a batch is safe to drink?

No. Kombrewcha cannot inspect a jar. The safety section states what to check before drinking a batch, including how to identify mold and when to discard one. The judgment is ours.

### Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and Android phones. One purchase covers the platform it was bought on, and every future update to the app.
