# Privacy policy

> What Kombrewcha stores, what leaves the device, and what it never collects.

Kombrewcha has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. This policy describes what the app
stores and the one case where anything leaves the phone.

## What stays on the device

Batches, recipes, tasting notes, ratings and reminders are stored on the phone. They are not
uploaded, and there is no server holding them. They ride along with whatever backup the operating
system already makes.

## What we do not collect

- No email address, password or profile. There is nothing to log in to.
- No usage analytics, crash analytics or behavioral data.
- No advertising identifiers, no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and no ads.
- No location, contacts, photos or health data.

## What leaves the phone

Brewing works entirely offline. Tracking a batch, keeping recipes, writing tasting notes and
reading the articles never need a connection, and none of it is uploaded.

Sharing is the part that does. Two things reach our server, both tied to the community feed.

**A recipe, whenever one is published.** It carries its ingredients, its duration, its name and
the brewer name it was published under. Nothing is published unless we publish it.

**The brewer name itself.** Because no two brewers can share a name, the name is registered with
us so it can be held. That happens the first time there is a connection rather than at the moment
of publishing, so the name is already secured when it is needed. Being offline never blocks
anything; the app simply carries on and registers it later.

The name is not an account and there is no password. It is paired with the phone, so the app knows
which brewmaster a recipe came from. It is also not private: anything published carries it, which
is the point of having one.

Rating or reporting another brewer's recipe sends that rating or report, and nothing else.

## Content published to the feed

Published recipes appear immediately, without review. Recipes can be reported from inside the app,
and reported recipes are reviewed by hand and removed when warranted.

Anything published to the feed is public. A recipe name or a handle should not contain anything
that should stay private.

## Children

Kombrewcha is not directed at children and collects nothing that would identify anyone.
